Ingredients

  • Chicken Marinade
  • Spice blend (to taste)

  • Chicken tenders

  • Olive oil (enough to bind the spices)

  • 2 cups buttermilk

  • ½ to 2 cups hot sauce (depending on spice preference)

  • Flour Mixture
  • 4 cups flour

  • 1–2 tablespoons baking powder

  • Black pepper (to taste)

  • Garlic powder (to taste)

  • Onion powder (to taste)

  • Nashville seasoning blend (optional; e.g., from Aldi)

  • Sauce
  • 2 tablespoons butter

  • Honey (to taste)

  • ¼ cup hot sauce (adjust to preference)

Directions

  • Marinade
  • Mix the spice blend with chicken tenders.
  • Add olive oil to bind the mixture.
  • Combine 2 cups of buttermilk and ½–2 cups of hot sauce (based on your spice tolerance).
  • Add the remainder of the spice blend. The buttermilk will dilute it, so it won’t be too salty.
  • Flour Mixture
  • In a separate bowl, mix flour, baking powder, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and the Nashville seasoning blend.
  • Breading Process
  • Dip the chicken tenders in the buttermilk marinade.
  • Coat in the flour mixture.
  • Repeat the process: return to the buttermilk, then coat in the flour mixture again (a total of 2 times).
  • Let the tenders rest to ensure the breading adheres properly.
  • Fry the Chicken
  • Heat oil to 350°F.
  • Fry the tenders for about 10 minutes or until golden brown.
  • Make the Sauce:
  • Melt 2 tablespoons of butter in a pan.
  • Add honey and ¼ cup hot sauce (or adjust to taste).
  • Cook the mixture down and pour over the fried tenders.
  • Toss to coat evenly.
