Homemade Crispy McChicken Sandwich

Ingredients

  • Burger buns

  • 300-400g ground chicken

  • Salt to taste

  • Pepper to taste

  • Paprika to taste

  • Dried garlic to taste

  • 8 tbsp all-purpose flour

  • 3-4 tbsp mayonnaise

  • ~50 ml water

  • 1/3 tsp apple cider vinegar

  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard

  • Fresh lettuce leaves

  • Vegetable oil for frying

Directions

  • Prepare the buns
  • Slice the burger buns lengthwise. Place them on a well-heated skillet until golden and crispy.
  • Make the patties
  • Form the ground chicken into patties. Place the patties in the freezer for about 30 minutes to firm up.
  • Prepare the coatings
  • For the dry breading: In a bowl, combine 4 tbsp of flour with salt, pepper, and paprika.
  • For the batter: In a separate bowl, combine 4 tbsp of flour with salt, pepper, and water (about 50 ml). Mix until the batter reaches a consistency similar to thick sour cream.
  • Bread the patties
  • Take the frozen patties and dip them first in the dry breading, then into the batter.
  • Fry the patties
  • Heat a large amount of vegetable oil in a skillet. Fry the breaded patties until golden brown and crispy.
  • Prepare the lettuce
  • Slice the lettuce leaves.
  • Make the sauce
  • In a bowl, mix the mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, apple cider vinegar, pepper, and dried garlic.
  • Assemble the burgers
  • Place a bun half on the bottom, spread with sauce, add a fried chicken patty, top with lettuce, add more sauce, and cover with the other half of the bun.

Notes

  • For an extra crunch, double dip the patties in the dry breading and batter before frying.
