Homemade Hot Cheetos Mozzarella Stick
Ingredients
8 oz Mozzarella Cheese (cut into sticks)
1 cup Flour
2 Eggs
2 tbsp Milk
1 bag Hot Cheetos Chips (crushed into crumbs)
1 tsp Garlic Powder
1 tsp Onion Powder
1 tsp Adobo Seasoning
Directions
- In a shallow bowl, mix the flour with garlic powder, onion powder, and Adobo seasoning.
- In another bowl, whisk together the eggs and milk to create the egg wash.
- In a third bowl, place the crushed Hot Cheetos crumbs.
- Roll each mozzarella stick in the seasoned flour, ensuring it’s fully coated.
- Dip the floured stick into the egg wash, covering it completely.
- Roll the stick in the Hot Cheetos crumbs, pressing gently to adhere the crumbs.
- Repeat the process: dip the stick back into the egg wash and then into the Hot Cheetos crumbs again for a double coating.
- Place the coated mozzarella sticks on a tray or plate and freeze them for 30 minutes. This helps the coating set and prevents the cheese from melting too quickly during frying.
- Deep Fry Method:
- Heat oil in a pot to 350°F (175°C).
- Carefully place the frozen mozzarella sticks into the hot oil and fry until golden brown and the cheese is melted (about 2-3 minutes).
- Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
- Air Fryer Method:
- Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C).
- Place the frozen mozzarella sticks in the air fryer basket in a single layer.
- Air fry for 6-8 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden and crispy.
