Homemade Shrimp Egg Foo Young
Ingredients
Shrimp
Bell Peppers
Salt & Pepper
Eggs
Butter
Onions
- Gravy
Butter
Onion
Flour
Water
Onion Powder
Garlic Powder
Seasoning Salt
Black Pepper
Sazon Seasoning
Worcestershire sauce
Hot Sauce
Directions
- Melt oil or butter in a pan.
- Add shrimp, bell peppers, and onions to the pan, and season with salt and pepper.
- Cook until the shrimp are done and veggies are tender.
- In a bowl, beat 3 eggs with a pinch of salt and pepper.
- In the same pan with the shrimp and vegetables, add a bit of butter.
- Pour the beaten eggs into the pan, letting them cook until the bottom sets.
- Add the shrimp and vegetable mixture on top of the eggs.
- Flip the egg to cook the other side, then remove from the pan.
- Gravy
- Melt butter in a pan.
- Add sliced onions and cook until soft.
- Add flour slowly to the butter and onions.
- Stir well and add more butter as needed to ensure there are no lumps.
- Gradually add water while stirring, until the mixture thickens to a gravy-like consistency.
- Season gravy with onion powder, garlic powder, seasoning salt, black pepper, sazon, Worcestershire sauce, and hot sauce
- Stir until the gravy changes color and the seasonings are fully incorporated.
- Add browning sauce for a darker color.(if needed)
- Salt to taste (use seasoning salt instead of regular iodized salt to avoid over-salting). (if needed)
