Homemade Upside Down Cast Iron Pizza
Ingredients
Olive oil
Garlic and herb butter
Pepperoni
Mozzarella cheese
Garlic lemon pepper seasoning (Tabitha’s brand, or similar)
Fresh ground pepper
Italian herb seasoning
Salt
4 Cheese pasta sauce (Classico brand)
Fresh pizza dough (from the bakery section, not frozen or pre-made)
6-cheese blend (Publix brand)
Directions
- Heat your cast iron pan on the stove with olive oil. Add garlic and herb butter, ensuring it coats all edges and creases.
- Place your toppings (e.g., pepperoni) evenly at the bottom of the pan.
- Mix the 6-cheese blend with mozzarella cheese, then spread the mixture evenly over the toppings.
- Sprinkle garlic lemon pepper seasoning, fresh ground pepper, Italian herb seasoning, and salt over the cheese.
- Spread a small amount of 4 Cheese pasta sauce evenly over the cheese and seasonings.
- Place the fresh pizza dough on top of the layers and tuck it in snugly around the edges.
- Melt some garlic and herb butter and brush it over the dough.
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and bake the pizza for 18–25 minutes (or 25–30 minutes for a more well-done crust).
- Remove the pan from the oven and carefully flip the pizza out onto a plate or cutting board.
